Dates: March 1-26, 2022
Reception: Thursday, March 3, from 5-8pm
The Bowery Gallery is pleased to present new paintings by Lynette Lombard.
In reflecting on her recent work, Lombard explains: “As a perceptual painter, I have found my recent inspiration in two places: the midwestern townscape I saw from my studio window during lockdown and the third-oldest restored prairie, Green Oaks, twenty minutes from my home. These scenes have sustained me through the pandemic”.
She further explains: “At Green Oaks, I found release from the daily terrors of Covid, environmental and civil rights injustices, and experiences of loss during 2020-22; the range of life forms animated my work. At home, I painted the color relationships between the clouds and the buildings, at once drastic and precise. In search of the air all living things breathe, I become consumed by intervals, spatial fluxes, slipping forms and sky, but also by the tremendous complexity in the way nature is organized”.
Lynette Lombard is represented by the Bowery Gallery, NY, Confluence Collective in Spain, the Midwest Paint Group and Seven on Site, a group of American landscape painters.
